Lead Pastors Kyle and Holiday Zimmerman lead Mariners volunteers on a mission to give the Irvine Branch of the Boys & Girls Club a much-needed face-lift.
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Harbor Area has welcomed a new partnership with the Irvine Campus of Mariners Church. Outreach Project Manager Holiday Zimmerman, wife of Lead Pastor Kyle Zimmerman, reached out to the Boys & Girls Club of the Harbor Area due in large part to her positive personal experience there years before. Zimmerman credits the Boys & Girls Club with strengthening her character development and doing the same for her children who played basketball at the Club years later.
On Saturday, March 7, more than 200 volunteers from the Irvine Mariners congregation arrived with smiles on their faces and joy in their hearts ready to transform the Boys & Girls Club of the Harbor Area. Mariners Church supplied all of the cleaning supplies, paint and elbow grease necessary to give the Irvine Club a much-needed facelift. From 8 a.m. to12 Noon, volunteers aged 4 to 80 scrubbed, swept, polished and prepped to brighten the lives of the nearly 200 local kids served each day by the Boys & Girls Club after-school program. Mariners Church also performed a similar rehab at the Westside Club (661 Hamilton Street, Costa Mesa, CA 92627) on Saturday, March 15, from 8am to12 Noon. In addition to encouraging hundreds of volunteers to participate in the cleaning, read more…

Through our partnership with the Los Angeles Clippers, a few of our kids got to play on the STAPLES Center floor where the stars get to perform. The process to be selected to the All Star team was an easy but effective one. The coaches from each grade decided a top 7 but could not pick anyone from their own team. The ones who were selected should hold their heads up with great pride that they earned the respect of their peers throughout the season. The chance to play at STAPLES Center is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity and the kids and parents all soaked it up.
Thank you to all the families who could attend and thanks for making the drive out to LA. Also, a special thank you to the Clippers organization for letting our kids go out there and have a moment they truly will never forget. Below is a list of all the kids who were selected and able to attend the All Star game.
Congratulations to these kids for the great seasons they had! We hope to see you out there again next year showing the Clippers the future is in great hands! You can find all photos from the event on our Facebook page.

Our first annual Battle of the Bay Tournament, which consisted of both our Lou Yantorn and Eastbluff teams, could not have been a bigger success. Patterned after the NCAA March Madness, the drama was scintillating.
Our championship games were living proof of this as all 4 championship games were decided by 4 points or less!
Since we have a partnership with the Los Angeles Clippers, our gym was decorated with Clipper signs, balloons and all kids were introduced on the PA system.
Our parents had the gym rocking with noise as well. What an exciting time for the kids! Congratulations to all the teams that won! We hope all the families who got to participate enjoyed it as much as we did and thanks to all the parents for making our season such a huge success! read more…
